What's Wrong With Fear?
Many believe, incorrectly, that a little fear is good. God tells us dozens of times in the Bible to "fear not."
When we fear, we become subject to bondage according to Hebrews 2:14-15, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he {Jesus} also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."
This passage of scripture says that the devil had the power of death but, praise God, Jesus destroyed the works of the devil, including fear, according to 1 John 3:8
Job realized that what he feared became a reality in his life: "for the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me." Job 3:25
Because the devil is an outlaw, we still must resist him and his works, including fear.
Seek Peace
The word of God gives great instructions to us in 1 Peter 3:10-11. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace and ensue it.
Thayer's definition of peace in the New Testament is:
1. a state of national tranquillity
a. exemption from the rage and havoc of war

3. security, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous)
4. of the Messiah's peace

5. of Christianity, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is
6. the blessed state of devout and upright men after death
The first part of the definition of seek says, in order to find. In other words, expect to find peace.
Brown-Driver-Briggs' definition of peace in the Old Testament is:
1. completeness, soundness, welfare, peace
a. completeness (in number)
b. safety, soundness (in body)
c. welfare, health, prosperity
d. peace, quiet, tranquillity, contentment
e. peace, friendship
1. of human relationships
2. with God especially in covenant relationship
f. peace (from war)
g. peace (as adjective)
